PLT1000 Configuration

Mainframe Configuration:

The Mainframe houses a standard PC computer and the
system power supplies.

The computer consists of an Intel Duo processor, 2G RAM,
and 160G SATA hard disk (as of Q1, 2007. These specs are
frequently upgraded). There are 2 USB ports on the front panel, and 4 on the rear panel.

The power supplies include two 27VDC, two 15VDC, and one 5VDC supplies that are switched on through a solid-state relay when the front panel pushbutton is pressed to turn on the computer. The computer power supply is only used for the computer. Digital ground and Analog ground are tied at CB0, in Slot 1 in the test head.

Test Head Configuration:

The Test Head includes a 16-slot card cage. There are 2 backplanes. J1 is a standard 16-slot VME-style backplane, with onboard termination. This is mostly used for system data distribution. J2 is a custom backplane. The first slot has a 96-pin connector, and the remaining slots have 32-pin connectors. J2 is used for analog power distribution, board identification, and 16 connections that go directly from the slot to the loadboard.

Cards are inserted from the rear, after removing the bottom panel. The backplanes are at the top of the test head box, with the loadboard connecting directly to J2.

Optional manipulator brackets are available. These attach to the 2 side panels, and allow the head to be mounted and swiveled into position.
